9-1-1 emergency number day

9-1-1 emergency number day

Governor Ehrlich has proclaimed September 11 as 9-1-1 Emergency Number Day in the State of Maryland. Every year on that date, citizens are asked to remember the dedication and professionalism of the more than 800 men and women who work in Maryland's 9-1-1 centers.
The Emergency Number Systems Board (ENSB), a vital component of the Maryland Department of Pubic Safety and Correctional Services, provides funding and training for all 24 primary 9-1-1 centers in Maryland. In the past year, ENSB has helped all of those centers become capable of locating wireless 9-1-1 calls, an enhancement that has saved lives by allowing rescuers to find people who were unable to say where they were during a medical emergency.
