Need help with utility bills?

Washington County Community Action Council, Inc. (CAC) has funds available to assist income eligible Washington County residents with energy costs whether it is gas or electric utility bills or oil or propane costs.
Households eligible for the Maryland Energy Assistance Program may receive a one-time benefit to assist with heating costs regardless of the fuel source. Households eligible for the Electric Universal Service Program may receive a monthly credit to assist with electric costs. Both of these programs are available yearly based on income eligibility.
Households with outstanding balances on electric accounts may be eligible for the Electric Universal Bill Retirement Program, which provides one-time assistance with past due accounts. Households with outstanding balance with past due gas accounts may be eligible for the Office of Home Energy Programs Gas Retirement Program, which provides one-time assistance with past due accounts.
Income eligible Washington County homeowners may be eligible for the Bay Restoration Fee Hardship Exemption. This is a rebate of the $30.00 or an exemption of the $30.00 fee for homeowners who are served by a sewage treatment plant or on a home septic system.
For more information call K. Deanie Smith-Wilburn at 301-797-4161. The Washington County Community Action Council, Inc. is located at 101 Summit Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland.
