Traffic Advisory: Former hospital complex demolition

Traffic Advisory
Former hospital complex demolition

As part of the demolition of the former hospital complex near the intersection of Antietam Street and Cannon Avenue, portions of the existing buildings along King Street must be removed. The demolition contractor, Brandenburg Industrial Service Company, plans to demolish these structures over a three-day period beginning next Monday. Consequently, beginning at 7AM on Monday, August 1, 2011, King Street will be closed to all traffic between Antietam Street and Baltimore Street. A detour plan will be implemented to direct motorists around the work area via other City streets. Motorists approaching the closure should expect to encounter barricades, detour signs, and other traffic control devices. The contractor anticipates that the street will be reopened to traffic by 6PM on Monday evening; this same closure will then be repeated on Tuesday, August 2nd and Wednesday, August 3rd.
Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through King Street while the closures are in effect.
Please contact the City's Department of Parks and Engineering at 301-739-8577 x125 if there are any questions regarding this advisory.
