City of Hagerstown Advisory: Salem Avenue work

City of Hagerstown Advisory
Salem Avenue work

Hagerstown, Maryland (September 27, 2010): Weather permitting, beginning at 7am on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, work crews from the City's Wastewater Division began installing new sanitary sewer laterals in Salem Avenue between Winter Street and Mitchell Avenue. This work will involve trenching across the full width of Salem Avenue to install the new laterals. Consequently, traffic on McDowell Avenue will not be able to access Salem Avenue during work hours, and vehicles may not be able to access Mitchell Avenue from Salem Avenue while the work is being completed. Traffic control signs will be posted to detour vehicles around the work area via other City streets. Motorists should expect to encounter cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices. Salem Avenue, and the access to these two side streets, will be reopened at the end of each work day. It is anticipated that this pattern of street closures will be repeated each day, with the work scheduled to be completed by 5pm on Friday, October 8th.
Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through Salem Avenue between Winter Street and Mitchell Avenue during daytime work hours.
Please contact the City's Wastewater Division at 301-739-8577 x684 if there are any questions regarding this advisory.
