Washington County DSS recipient of Payment Accuracy Achievement Award
The Washington County Department of Social Services (WCDSS) was the only county in Maryland to receive the Payment Accuracy Award from the United States Department of Agriculture at their Mid-Atlantic Payment Accuracy Conference held recently in Lancaster, PA. WCDSS was recognized for achieving 97.65 percent payment accuracy for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as the Food Stamp Program) during federal fiscal year 2009. With 6,586 households receiving benefits during this time, WCDSS had an error rate of less than 3 percent. The award was presented to Rosalind Martin, WCDSS Assistant Director for Family Investment. Attending the conferences were representatives from DE, PA, MD, VA, VI, DC and WV.
The Washington County Department of Social Services is a field office of the Maryland Department of Human Resources, Martin O'Malley, Governor; Anthony Brown, Lt. Governor, and Brenda Donald, Secretary.
