The proclamation declared May 9-17 as Washington County Tourism Week, and also said:
"Whereas, the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau works diligently on behalf of all the citizens of Washington County to help attract visitors here and as a result, millions of visitors stay here and play here and stop and shop here; and Whereas, we, the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County, Maryland, praise the noteworthy and economic effect of tourism and proclaim May 9-17, 2009 as Hagerstown-Washington County Tourism Week in Washington County, Maryland."
