Washington County Commissioners Present Proclamation to Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau
Washington County Commissioner James Kercheval presented CVB Board Chairperson Carrie Cirrito and CVB President Tom Riford a Washington County proclamation.
Following the annual Convention and Visitors Bureau update to the Washington County Board of County Commissioners, which included details about the organization's financial audit, the commissioners recognized the importance of the local tourism industry.
The proclamation declared May 9-17 as Washington County Tourism Week, and also said:
"Whereas, the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau works diligently on behalf of all the citizens of Washington County to help attract visitors here and as a result, millions of visitors stay here and play here and stop and shop here; and Whereas, we, the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County, Maryland, praise the noteworthy and economic effect of tourism and proclaim May 9-17, 2009 as Hagerstown-Washington County Tourism Week in Washington County, Maryland."
