29th Annual "Run Through History" Set for June 1st

(Hagerstown, MD)- The 29th Annual Run Through History will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Antietam National Battlefield beginning at 8:30am. This year's event again includes a 10K road race and a 2 mile fun run/walk. All proceeds help support two local early childhood agencies in Washington County, the Child Care Resource Center @ APPLES for Children, and Washington County Head Start, serving the most needy families with education and family development programs.
Beautiful custom design t-shirts, cash prizes for the top finishers, random door prizes and refreshments for all participants are included in the registration fee.

Race registration is available on the web site, and early registrations with discounted fee need to be received by May 28th. Late registrations, including on race day until 8:00am. will be accepted at a higher fee.
Hundreds of people enter the race annually. Course Description: "A rolling, out and back course on paved roads in picturesque, Antietam National Battlefield Park. The race starts at the historic Dunker Church proceeding past the West Woods, The Cornfield, winding by the Mumma Farm to Bloody Lane, looping around the Observation Tower and returning to the Dunker Church, via the same route. The roads are not closed during the race. Please keep watch for vehicle traffic."

According to race organizers, this is an unusual opportunity for people to participate in a running event in the Antietam National Battlefield. The National Park Service, sponsors, and race organizers are working closely together to ensure that this year's 29th annual race is "better than ever." Last year more than 225 runners participated, and scores of volunteers assisted with the annual event.
