Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage

Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage

The 71st Annual Maryland House and Garden pilgrimage will include a visit to the Washington County, Maryland area for the first time since 2003. The Washington County House and Garden Tour will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2008. The tour will be open to the public from 10am-5pm. It includes 8 historic homes in the Fairplay, Keedysville, Sharpsburg, and Williamsport areas of the county.
Among the homes open in Washington County will be "Rockland" in Fairplay: a massive three-story stone structure. The house is listed on the Maryland Inventory of Historic Sites and is designated an official site of the National Underground Railroad network. "Rose Hill Manor" in Williamsport, a stately brick mansion built circa 1800, is attributed to Benjamin Henry Latrobe. Tour participants will see stunning private homes with outstanding collections of American and European antiques and artwork, lovely Colonial Revival and wildflower gardens, and beautifully designed rooms that combine the new with the old.
Tickets for each day's tour are $35 on the day of the tour and $30 if bought pre-tour. Tickets can be bought at The Women's Club, Washington County Visitor Center, and Lena's. Proceeds from the tour will go to the Washington County Rural Heritage Museum and Village. Call 1-410-821-6933 for further information.
A lunch will be available for $10 at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 West Main Street, Sharpsburg, Maryland from 11:30am to 2pm in the Parish Hall.
