The Lioness Club's "Gift of Sight" Fashion Show

The Lioness Club's "Gift of Sight" Fashion Show

The Hagerstown Lioness Club presents its 21st Fabulous "Gift of Sight" Fashion Show on Sunday, November 18 at 2pm at the Cortland Mansion in Hagerstown. The theme of the show is "Holiday Jubilee" and will feature lovely fashions and accessories from the Uptown Shoppes of Downtown Hagerstown that include Lena's of Hagerstown, Figure Head II, The Boutique, L & L Classic Clothes, and Basketful of Gifts. Several club members and friends of the club will model the fashions.
Tickets are $10.00 per person and are available from any of the Uptown Shoppes, from a Hagerstown Lioness Club member, or at the door. Doors open at 1pm to preview the accessory and gift tables. The fashion show begins at 2pm. There will be light refreshments and door prizes.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Medical Eye Bank of Maryland and will assist with the Club's community sight conservation projects. The Medical Eye Bank, celebrating its 45th anniversary, is a nonprofit organization serving the citizens of Maryland. Its mission is to provide eye tissue for transplant surgery, provide coordination and recovery of donated eye tissue, and continue its research into the causes and cures of human blindness.
The Medical Eye Bank, based in Baltimore, coordinates and recovers donated eye tissue through Maryland's hospitals, hospices, funeral homes, and the Medical Examiner's office. The waiting time for Maryland patients to receive transplants has almost been eliminated. All transplant surgeries are schedule on an elective basis because of the donor recovery programs. An individual can give someone "the gift of sight" by completing a donor's card or can become a corneal recipient. From July 2006 to June 2007, twenty-four (24) eye/cornea donors were from the Washington County Hospital and eight (8) Washington County residents were recipients of corneal transplants, according to Patricia Murphy, executive director of the Medical Eye Bank. Individuals can contact the Medical Eye Bank at 410-752-2020 2 hours a day for further information.
The Hagerstown Lioness Club is a service organization that has been serving the local community for over thirty years. The Lioness Club is part of the world's largest and most active service club organization - Lions Clubs International.
