Blankets Are Desperately Needed

Hagerstown, MD- the quarantine that resulted from a recent parvovirus outbreak at the Humane Society of Washington County is over but the animals are now in need of blankets.
To stop possible cross contamination many of the blankets used by the dogs prior to breakout had to be destroyed. "We were very concerned about possible cross contamination and as a precautionary measure we destroyed the blankets that we felt had been exposed to the virus," stated Paul Miller, executive director of the Humane Society of Washington County. "We are now in need of blankets to replace those we disposed of," he added.
The Humane Society of Washington County is asking the community to donate blankets for the animals. "We can use all shapes and sizes of blankets, except electric blankets," indicated Animal Care Supervisor, Holly Brong. She added, "Comforters are a bit difficult to wash in large numbers so we would prefer blankets. Right now, though, we will take everything we can get." Blankets offer warmth and comfort to the animals during their stay at the shelter.
Blankets can be dropped off at the Humane Society of Washington County at 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown from 9am-Noon and 1-5pm on Mondays, 9am-7pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9am-5pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, and 9am-4pm on Saturdays.
