Maryland Symphony Orchestra Announces Free Student Ticket Initiative for 2012-2013 Season

Hagerstown, MD - For the third consecutive season, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra will be providing free Masterworks concert tickets to students in grades one through 12 as part of its Free Student Ticket Initiative. Public, private and home-schooled students from throughout the quad-state region are eligible to participate during the 2012-2013 Season.
This initiative is made possible by a grant from Susquehanna Bank, the sole corporate sponsor this year, and an additional grant from Elizabeth Schulze, the MSO's Music Director.
"We are proud to support the MSO's Free Student Ticket Initiative. It is our belief that viable, sustainable communities are created when we work closely with a strong nonprofit partner to address critical community needs," says Susquehanna's Regional President R. L. Fisher. "Through this partnership with the MSO, we are supporting access to the arts for the youth of the region, and making a greater impact on the communities where our employees and customers live and work."
Music education has been a core mission of the MSO from the very beginning and the orchestra has no stronger advocate for building upon and strengthening that mission than its music director, Elizabeth Schulze. "I am happy to partner with Susquehanna Bank in providing free admission for all students to our Masterworks Series. It is essential that all of our young people have access to the very best in our culture. This is an opportunity to open doors not only to new ideas and sound worlds, but more importantly, to a future educated and enlightened citizenry," states Schulze.
Masterworks concerts will be held Nov. 10 & 11, Feb. 16 & 17, March 16 & 17 and April 20 & 21. For more information on these concerts and the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, go to
The MSO is supported by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC), an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. The MSO is the region's premier professional orchestra, dedicated to providing musical performances that educate and entertain, while enhancing the cultural environment of Western Maryland and the surrounding region.
