Clear Spring drama students get "All Shook Up"

On Friday, April 13 the members of the Clear Spring Drama Club will premiere "All Shook Up" inspired by and featuring music of Elvis Presley at Clear Spring High School.
Somewhere in the Midwest, within a village that no one knew about, in the 1950s, Chad, a hip-swiveling, guitar-playing roustabout, is being released from prison. The warden doesn't appreciate a guy like Chad riding into town, playing his music and exciting the local women.
When problems with his motorcycle arise, Chad must find himself a mechanic. In a nearby dreary little town, he finds one - a young one named Natalie. At first sight, Natalie starts dreaming about love and dreams and soon the entire town is forced to ask themselves, "Why can't our dreams come true?"
This brilliant musical features some of the King's greatest hits: "Jailhouse Rock", "Heartbreak Hotel," "Love Me Tender," "Don't Be Cruel," and "Can't Help Falling in Love".
This year's show features the talent of senior Tessa Wiles, recent finalist at Hagerstown's Teen Idol Competition, senior Ryan Baker, who plays Chad, senior, Jared Mummert who plays Dennis, and many more familiar, local faces. Virginia Livingston, a senior at Clear Spring High School and assistant director of the show says, "People will be dancing in the aisles" when they come to see this show.
Beth Smith, the school's drama director, notes that this is the "best type of show" for our small community. "'All Shook Up' combines the right blend of comedy and drama with the timeless rock-and-roll hits of Elvis," Smith continues. "The arrangements of these songs are perfect for a high school group."
The school will perform 3 public performances, Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14 both at 7:30 p.m. and then again on Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at the school.
The cost of tickets is $10 for adults and $8 for students, seniors, and active military. To get yours, call the school at 301-766-8999 x75225.
Clear Spring High School is located at 12630 Broadfording Road, Clear Spring.
