Former Maryland football star to speak at Boys & Girls Club Dinner

Former Maryland football star to speak at Boys & Girls Club Dinner

The 22nd Annual Steak & Burger Dinner to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County will feature Josh Wilson of the Washington Redskins as the keynote speaker. The dinner, scheduled for April 12th at the Hager Hall Convention Center, includes a silent auction, performances by Boys & Girls Club members, and the Andrew Hoffman Youth of the Year Award announcement.
Wilson played at the University of Maryland prior to being drafted by the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson, whose father Tim also played in the NFL, spent one year playing for the Baltimore Ravens before joining the Redskins. His father played at Maryland and spent several years as Earle Campbell's running mate in the backfield for the Houston Oilers. Unfortunately Tim Wilson passed away when Josh was very young, a very challenging situation for anyone, Josh Wilson now hopes to inspire others to overcome similar challenges in their lives.
The Boys & Girls Club serves children between the ages of 6 and 18 at seven locations in Washington County. The Boys & Girls Club has been a stable force in the lives of local children since 1941.
"The Steak & Burger Dinner is a fantastic evening," said Jim Deaner, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club. "The dinner is a fundraising event that helps us secure the resources necessary to improve the lives of our children but it also serves as one of our programs as the entire evening is run by our club members. I promise if you come out to the dinner you will leave feeling like the future is in good hands."
oys & Girls Club members will serve as greeters at the dinner, the masters of ceremony during the event, performers during the social hour, and as the featured guests of honor. The silent auction and social hour start at 5:30 with Josh Wilson being available during this time to sign autographs. Dinner will be served at 6:30 with the club members taking the stage shortly after dinner. Wilson will speak to conclude the night's festivities.
Tickets for the Steak & Burger Dinner are $50.00 per person with Table Sponsorships available for $500.00. For more information call the Boys & Girls Club at 301-733-5422 or visit the club online at www.bgcwc.com or on Facebook(r).
