Greenbrier Elementary School declares a Penny War!

Greenbrier Elementary School declares a Penny War!
By Megan Brown, Grade 1 teacher

In effort to raise money for the Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, Greenbrier Elementary School of Boonsboro started a war...a Penny War! For twenty-one school days students in grades K-5 have been hard at work collecting pennies and planning their sabotaging.
Every penny collected counted as a point but other grades had the chance to sabotage by putting in other currency that would deduct points. We saw everything from nickels to twenty- dollar bills secretly being dropped in! Second grade has won the war and as a whole, Greenbrier has happily raised about $1,300.00.
I could not be prouder that Greenbrier students, staff, and families have come together for such a wonderful, local cause.
