Bowl For Kids' Sake
Bowl For Kids' Sake
Bowl a strike, make an impact, start something for a child in your community!
Put together by Jennifer LB Leese
Big Brothers Big Sisters is holding Bowl For Kids' Sake on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 11am to 5pm at Turner's Dual Lanes.
Have fun with friends to help kids. Bowl For Kids' Sake bowlers and sponsors are people just like you who want to give back to children right here in our community. Anyone and everyone can get involved as a bowler, a team captain, or a sponsor - or all three! If you care about kids, and can "spare" a little time for fun, you're the perfect Bowl For Kids' Sake supporter.
As a bowler, you sign up "sponsors" (friends, colleagues, neighbors) on the pledge sheet, and then come have fun at their bowling event.
An added benefit of being a team captain is that you get to organize your own group.
It's not about bowling! It's about having fun and taking part in an informal group outing with people you know and like.
Bowl For Kids' Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters most important fundraising campaign. All the money raised goes directly toward matching children with the Big Brothers Big Sisters who can help them reach their full potential.
This event is a simple and fun way to make a difference. It's not your skill or your score that counts - it's your effort!
As a bowler, you are bowling for boys and girls from Washington County who are involved in or are waiting for a one-on-one relationship with a Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Couple, or School-Based Mentor. There are many children in our community needing the friendship and guidance of an adult volunteer mentor. A recent study conducted by public/private ventures found that the Big Brothers Big Sisters program is the most sophisticated mentoring program in the US and brings about beneficial changes in the children served.
Big Brothers Big Sisters wants you to know that a $30 minimum pledge for all bowlers which includes a fountain drink or coffee and a 2011 Bowl For Kids' Sake T-shirt, bowling and shoes are free, each bowler bowls one game, either duck pins or ten pins, no minimum but maximum of six bowlers per team, the minimum score is 100, regardless of game bowled and there will be dozens of door prizes to be given away!
Prizes include a grand prize for a drawing for a $350 Visa gift card (anyone raising $300 or more), second prize for a drawing for a $250 Visa gift card (anyone raising $200 or more), and anyone turning in all pledge money on or before April 13 will be eligible for a $100 Visa gift card.
Target and Wal-mart work as gift sponsors for gift certificate prizes, which range from a $10 gift certificate to a $100 gift certificate!
First, second, and third prize raffles will also be given which include a 40" flat screen TV, Blu Ray player and stand, Longaberger blanket basket, and $250 cash.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is America's preeminent youth mentoring organization with proven success in creating and nurturing friendships between adults and children. Eric Coulter founded Big Brothers Big Sisters of America in 1904. The program, which currently serves more than 200,000 youth in 5,000 communities, is the oldest and largest in the US.
There's many ways to help. If you'd like to help but don't have time to bowl, don't worry, you can donate a flat amount online if you wish, or you can also encourage your business to support Bowl For Kids' Sake by sponsoring a Big/Little team to bowl. Every little bit helps!
