New hair salon opens in Hagerstown

A new hair salon has opened in Hagerstown! Universal Hair Studio, LLC, owned by Linda Sue Renner, is located at 1826 Dual Highway, Unit D.
Situated toward the end of the Dual, the entrance of the shop overlooks a wooded area, which instantly soothes the soul with its beautiful and peaceful setting. Upon opening the door, it is obvious that the outside ambiance has followed you in. The space is small, but laid out wisely. A small check-in desk sits to the left and four stylists' chairs outline the backside right. Waiting customers can sit comfortably in the cozy sitting area, which has six brown leather chairs small square tables with a few books, newspapers, and magazines, and a TV hangs above the stereo. A crackling fire roared on the plasma TV during my visit and a bright cheerful Christmas tree decorated in blue and white stood modestly beside it.
Watercolor paintings by Lonnie Jenkins hang in the nail and wax room, giving the client a more serene experience.
Linda Sue has worked at several hair salons in the area, and because of her mother and wanting to start a Christian-based business, she found the right opportunity at the right time and jumped on it. "My mother always wanted me to open a salon," she said, "so I did."
The shop opened October of this year and is dedicated to her mother, Edna E. Fultz Lang. Her memorializing picture hangs next to Linda Sue's station alongside a thin gold cross.
"It was hard opening a business during the recession, but I did it," said Linda Sue Renner. "There were many long nights getting everything put away and situated."
Linda Sue, originally from Cumberland, came to Hagerstown in 1993 from Baltimore where she went to school at Continental Beauty School after serving three years in the Army. "I've been doing hair since I was 12," she said. "I used to cut, style, and color my own hair as well as family and friends.
"I am continually going to school to learn new techniques and styles," she said. "Gotta keep up with today!"
Tons of ideas race through her mind such as creating specials called "Girl's Night Out" where a group of women can have an evening of pampering, while enjoying refreshments and a good movie, and "Football Night" geared toward men with party snacks and a football game! Linda Sue is anxious about seeing her ideas come to life.
With unique ideas and well-known professional products such as PRAVANA(r) and Aquage (r), Linda Sue has set a fantastic ground base. Universal Hair Studio offers waxing, manicures, pedicures, color, haircuts and waxing as well as a make-up and skin care line by Sorme.
"We are the only one in Hagerstown that has PRAVANA(r) and Sorme products," said Linda Sue.
Linda Sue likes to idea that her clients can watch her grow and wants them to know "that without their help and support"; she "would have nothing".
Although the shop is still in its infant stages, Universal Hair Studio is well on its way to becoming a popular salon with their beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, distinctive products, and reasonable pricing.
