The contests are finished and the winners are...

Hagerstown, MD: The Humane Society of Washington County's (HSWC) 3rd annual Bark in the Park held on Saturday September 25, 2010 at Doubs Woods Park was a barking, sniffing and trick filled success. Close to 100 dogs and their human companions attended the event and by the end of the day the dogs had been blessed, people had shopped at the vendor booths, watched exciting K9 unit demonstrations and winners had been determined for all of the games.
Festivities began at 10 with a meaningful and heartfelt blessing of the animals by Pastor Jerry Lowans from St. Matthews & Washington Square United Methodist Churches. A Paws on the Path Walk around Doubs Woods Park followed by crowd pleasing demonstrations by K9 Units from the Hagerstown City Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Offices. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to current and retired officers and their K9 partners from HPD, WCSO, State Police Hagerstown Barrack O, the Hancock Police Department and the Boonsboro Police Department. Certificates were also presented to the partners of the K9 officers that had passed away from HPD and WCSO. Gifts for the current and retired K9 officers were donated by Pet-O-Bed, Central Dawgma & the Dawg Wash, Nicole Boudreaux and Kim McMillion Photography.
Judging the many contests were MJ Williams, David Kloos and Ashley Haywood. "We had a lot of very talented dogs here today," said Paul Miller, Executive Director of the HSWC. "Our judges did a superb job as did the competitors." Bobbing for Hot Dogs (canines only) contest first prize went to Barb Moats and Camden, with 2nd place honors going to Dennis Richardson and Dixie. Musical Sit 1st place prize was given to Loretta Clifford and Sabrina while 2nd place was awarded to Kelli Summers and Kooper. The winners of the Owner-Dog Look Alike were Karen Lowry and Maverick and 2nd place was Rachel Sink and Rosie. The Best Tail Wager first place was awarded to Machelle Morningstar and Ripken and 2nd place was Bill Smith with Frisky. Best Vocalist first prize went to Jen Santiago and Diggy with 2nd place honors going to Nancy Gilleo and Data. The Fashion Show prizes were awarded to Laurie Meyers and Callie and 2nd place to Linda Carnes and Tia.
The winners of the My Dog's Got Talent contest were: 1st place to Loretta Clifford and Sabrina, 2nd place Katie Ervin and Molly and 3rd place were Rachael Sink and Rosie. Custom designed trophies for human and canine winners of all the games were donated by K&R Engraving and dog toys were donated by Pet-O-Bed. A special signed, matted print by Kent Roberts Caricatures was awarded to the first place winner of the My Dog's Got Talent contest. The winner of the most pledges earned for the Paws on the Path Walk was Diana Fox. Special raffles to benefit the HSWC were held by Bow Wow Station & Spa and Cozy Critters Pet Sitting.
Custom designed t-shirts for the event were donated by Screentique and custom designed tote bags were donated by Longmeadow Animal Hospital. They were given to all registered participants.
