An autumn stroll

Chambersburg, PA: Franklin County Master Gardeners announce their fall garden tour, "An Autumn Stroll", on Sunday, September 19th from noon until 5pm. The tour will feature 10 gardens in six neighborhoods within Chambersburg, with an exciting variety of sizes and styles. Four Master Gardeners' properties are among the gardens included, which can be visited in any order along the 15.5 mile tour route. Rough and uneven landscaping may be encountered, and so comfortable, low-heeled walking shoes are recommended.
"This year's offerings represent a well-rounded display of visually appealing gardens that showcase varying aspects of gardening and landscape design," explains tour coordinator Georgena Ruth. "You'll see sun and shade gardens as well as simple and complex landscape structures. Watch for new insights into companion planting, turf management, and garden accenting. There's plenty to see!"
Tickets for "An Autumn Stroll" are $10 apiece, with proceeds to go toward the educational programs presented by the Master Gardeners. Persons interested in attending are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at the following locations: in Chambersburg: Franklin County Cooperative Extension, 191 Franklin Farm Lane; Snavely's Garden Corner, 2106 Lincoln Way East; and Plasterer's Florist & Greenhouse, 990 Lincoln Way East; in Greencastle, at Phillips' Seeds & Garden Center, 410 South Antrim Way; in Waynesboro, at Paul's Country Market, 6374 Nunnery Rd; and Green Arbor Flower & Shrubbery Center, 11401 Buchanan Trail East; and in Shippensburg, at East Meets West Emporium, 29 East King Street.
