Dance like no one is watching to Benefit Holly Place

"Dance like no one is watching" to Benefit Holly Place

Sparkling lights and energetic music will greet those who attend a benefit for Holly Place on Saturday, March 27, where a joyful celebration invites everyone to "Dance like no one is watching." Light hors d'oeuvres will be served and beverages will be available at the Women's Club auditorium from 7 to 11pm. Alone or in couples or groups everyone can join in the fun.
Doug Wright, board president, said, "This is the second year for this unique event and those who participated last year had a great experience." To reserve tickets just send a check made out to Holly Place and mail it to: Adair Eves, 920 Dewey Ave., Hagerstown, MD, 21742. Admission is $25.00 or more, if moved to do so. Tickets will be held at the door. Those who can't attend are encouraged to send a donation.
The 15 residents of Holly Place are all low-income seniors in Washington County, in need of assisted living care, who have very limited financial and family resources to provide for them. They are ineligible for commercial assisted living accommodations. Holly Place is their last resort. Calls come in frequently seeking access for new clients from local social service agencies and those concerned about issues for the aging population.
Last year private dollars needed for operations was about $160,000; this year that number has escalated to about $200,000. Both the City of Hagerstown and Washington County support the operations, but supplemental funds must be raised by the board through community awareness and events.
