Smithsburg Teens Take Second in NBC's SingStrong Event

Four Smithsburg teenagers: Demi Jacques, Alex Brown, Tiana Jones, and Jack Nehemias attended the sold out benefit A Cappella music festival SingStrong that was held in Reston, VA last weekend. A Cappella is music using just the human voice - no instruments.
They competed in the High School Competition, representing Smithsburg High and were against schools that were 4 to 5 times their size, and they placed 2nd!
The Smitshburg teens received a standing ovation from the sold out SingStrong audience after their performance. They met and learned from Nota, the recent winners of NBC's "The Sing-Off".
These four talented students are active in Smithsburg Show Choir and Drama and are all in the school's Wizard of Oz production, which opened March 12th. Demi plays Dorothy, Jack is the Lion, Tiana plays Auntie Em, and Alex is Uncle Henry. For tickets to the show call 301-766-8336 or send an email to Ms. Bradley at bradlrut@wcboe.k12.md.us.
The students would like to thank their coach, Mrs. Carolyn Sexton, and drama teacher/director Ruth Bradley. They said they prepared by visiting people throughout the school and singing for them.
