Weekend Guaranteed to Go to the Dogs

The Mason and Dixon Kennel Club (MDKC), located at the Washington County Agricultural Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Route 65, Boonsboro, MD, will be holding two days of fun for dogs the weekend of February 27th and 28th. Saturday, February 27 will be an AKC Sanctioned B Conformation All Breed Match. Sunday, February 28 will be an AKC B-OB Match with Rally Run-Thrus.
Registration for Saturday's Conformation All Breed Match will be from 9:30 to 11:30am. Junior Showmanship judging begins at 11:30 and regular class judging begins at noon. The entry fee is $7 per entry for the regular classes. The Junior Showmanship entry fee is $5. Class divisions are: Puppy classes 3 to 6 months, 6 to 9 months, and 9 to 12 months. Adult classes are 12 to 18 months and OPEN 18 months & over.

On Saturday there will be an Introduction to Conformation (Show) Handling class from 10:30 to 11am for juniors and adults by instructors Floyd Massey and Nancy Plunkett. Food and photography will be available on Saturday only. Valley Concessions will provide the food and photography will be by Terri Kieffer. A variety of vendors with dog related items will also be at the event. Limited crate space is available. There will be plenty of parking. This event is for purebred dogs. Spectators are welcome to watch at no charge.
Registration for the AKC B-OB Match with Rally Run-Thrus on Sunday the 28th will be from 9-10am. Obedience judging begins at 10am with Utility followed by Open B, Open A, Novice B, Novice A, and Pre-Novice. The obedience judge will be John Landis. Rally Run-Thrus begin at 10am. Rally Run-Thrus will be Nested Novice/ Advanced Course. Rally-O instructor Rebecca Lawson is very enthusiastic about Rally-O, one of the newest events in the AKC's catalog. "Rally-O is a new sport that offers a more relaxed environment for obedience training with your dog. It teaches them to become a better k9 citizen." Victor Guilmino, President of the Mason & Dixon Kennel Club hopes the public will come out to see what each day has to offer local dog lovers. "The Mason and Dixon Kennel club has something for almost every type of dog lover," stated Guilmino. "The events on Saturday are for dog owners interested in the sport of showing their pure bred dog and Sunday's events offer obedience and Rally-O which are open to pure and mixed breeds alike.
