Remembering the Others

Hagerstown, MD: Ginger, formerly known as Buttercup, went home 3 years ago but she and her family remember where they met. This December Ginger, accompanied by her people parent Jan Scott, and two of Jan's four daughters returned to the Humane Society of Washington County and brought holiday treats for the homeless animals that are still waiting for their new families.
"Ginger has turned out to be the best dog for us," said Jan, affectionately known as Big Jan by her family because she has a daughter also named Jan. "To honor her we thought we would remember the other animals that didn't have homes this holiday so my daughters and I came in to give everyone a special treat." Daughters Indigo and Little Jan made the rounds to the dog kennels and cat enclosures while Big Jan and Ginger visited with the staff at the HSWC staff.
Love of animals runs in the family. Big Jan has been involved in horse rescue and Little Jan has chosen to become a veterinarian. "She is a straight A student," said Big Jan proudly. "She loves all animals." Daughters Jocelyn and Ashley did not accompany the rest of the family on their quest to bring holiday cheer to the shelter but they were with their family in spirit.
