Cans for Critters

Cans for Critters

Hagerstown, MD: The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is holding Cans for Critters, an aluminum can collection program as a fundraising effort. They are asking for empty soda and beer cans that can be recycled for cash.
"We are asking the public to collect cans and bring them to the shelter so we can recycle them," said Margaret Becker, Manager of Volunteer, Public Assistance and Humane Education Programs at the HSWC. "This is a great way to keep the items out of the landfill and use the items to benefit homeless animals."
"This is a nice neighborhood or church project," said Paul Miller, Executive Director at the HSWC. "It is also a great way to get your fellow employees together on an office wide project." Bags of cans may be brought to the HSWC during regular working hours or may be left at the front entrance. The program is ongoing.
The Humane Society of Washington County is located at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown, MD. Visit our website, www.hswcmd.org, for information on animal related issues, directions to the shelter and information about our programs and services.
The Humane Society of Washington County exists to improve the quality of life for all animals. Through education, legislation, action and leadership, we strive to eliminate overpopulation and to foster an environment of respect, responsibility and compassion.
