Free Movie Nights in Downtown Hagerstown

Free Movie Nights in Downtown Hagerstown

Tired of the $10 movie ticket price? Here's an alternative! In the heart of downtown Hagerstown, Bridge of Life is reaching out to the community & offering free movies, free popcorn, and free sodas every other Saturday night! Each movie is shown on a big projection screen with theater quality sound. The theater has a capacity of seating 450 and is held in the historic building, originally known as Colonial Theatre, built in 1914 for movies and vaudeville shows. This sanctuary still offers movie-theatre style seating, and beautiful baroque styling on the facade of the building.
"We have a good location right in the heart of the Arts and Entertainment District," said Terry King, lead pastor at Bridge of Life. Bridge of Life has been offering free movie nights every other Saturday night since January of this year. "The movies are shown on a big screen in Bridge of Life's renovated theater," King said. "The bottom line is we're trying to serve the community in general and downtown in particular.
"We want to give people a reason to come downtown. We also offer free sodas and popcorn, and we offer a safe environment," he continued. "Some people can't afford to go to the (larger) theaters."
"Although we're offering free entertainment to people, we also want to be involved in downtown Hagerstown's revitalization efforts," said Joel Yount, member of Bridge of Life movie night team. "There is a lot of change happening in downtown Hagerstown. The new school for the arts, new restaurants, and events," he said. The movies being shown are on DVD and range from new to within the last several years. One added benefit is free parking for the event downtown in the Arts & Entertainment parking deck.
Attendance to the movie night events has been increasing due to word of mouth and the Internet. "We have a movie lineup variety that appeals to everyone," says Yount. "People can connect with us and receive updates through our website (www.bridgeoflife.org/movienight) at Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter."
"Bridge of Life also takes security very seriously and maintains a safe environment for everybody to enjoy," says Yount.
The movie dates are: July 11th and 25th at 7.
Anyone can connect with Bridge of Life, whether it is for movie information, directions, or information in general, by visiting www.bridgeoflife.org/movienight. You can also call the office at 301-791-1674.
All movies begin at 7pm. Bridge of Life is located directly across from the Maryland Theater at 14 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown.
